Eggs are a good source of high-quality protein, offering 5.5
grams of protein in one egg (11.1 percent of the daily protein value) at a
caloric cost of only 68 calories. Proteins are of great importance to the body and should be integrated as part of a balanced diet. Their addition to the diet
as a source of choline that is part of the B vitamin family is another health
advantage of eggs. While the body can generate some choline, our diets don't
have ample supply. Choline is a nutrient needed in good health
supply.
Eggs
can be prepared in several ways and are a popular addition to a variety of
dishes including potato salad and fried rice. They are also a principal baking
ingredient. Preparing eggs by boiling is one of the best ways to cook them. The
eggs can be soft-boiled or hard-boiled. Very fresh eggs are not recommended
because they are very difficult to peel when making hard-boiled eggs.
Instructions
- Remove eggs from the fridge and make them stay for 15 minutes at room temperature.
- Put the eggs in a small saucepan and add water to cover about one inch of eggs. Small saucepans are used when the water starts to boil, to keep eggs from reaching each other.
- Place the water on a rolling boil. Covering the pan can result in faster healing, which is recommended.
- Reduce heat to a simmer immediately and remove the cover from the oven.
- Let the eggs remain for 12 minutes in the simmering broth. (11 minutes for medium eggs; 13 minutes for extra-large eggs)
- Remove the pan carefully from heat, and position it under cool running water for about a minute.
- Run cold water into the saucepan for a minute until the touch is soft.
- Offer each egg a little whack to the side of the pan, so that each egg has a crack or two.
- This allows for the building of a little steam between the cooked egg and its shell to make peeling trouble-free.
- Let the eggs hang out for 2 to 5 minutes in the cool water.
- Use a hard utensil to smash all over the eggshell.
- Peel the broken shell under a cold flowing water faucet.
- If you peel several eggs, put peeled eggs in a pan of cold water for further cooling while you peel the others.
Preparation of soft-boiled eggs
The cumulative amount of time that the eggs are required to
boil determines how much the yolk is cooked to. We do not recommend it to have a
cooking time of under 4 minutes. Depending on the size of the eggs, soft-cooked
runny yolk will take 4 to 6 minutes, the longer the cooking time the greater
the eggs. The medium-cooked part-firm creamy yolk is 6 to 8 minutes.
Hope This Helps.
